Sprint kayaks are narrow, require balance, and have an enclosed deck in front and back of the paddler who sits in the cockpit. Steering is controlled with one's feet using the rudder bar located within the footrest. Sprint kayaks are designed for one paddler (K-1), two paddlers (K-2), and four paddlers (K-4) and have maximum length and weight specifications in competition.
